Be the change you wish to see in Des Moines! This will be a great opportunity to meet a few great nonprofits in the Des Moines area in search of volunteers and/or greater awareness.
Agape has served people just like you in the Des Moines area for over 25 years. We offer accurate information to help you make an informed choice. At Agape, you’ll find a team who will listen to your questions and concerns about pregnancy, abortion, STDs and other issues. All services are free.
We work to meet the physical needs of the children of South Africa by providing nutritional support, housing, and medical care; and to meet their spiritual needs through training and support for leaders of the African church.
Mission: Share the love of Jesus Christ with impoverished and distressed youth throughout Iowa, which will empower them to break bondages, discover their God-given talents and lead a life filled with faith, hope and love.
Serve youth from k-age 23 years old. Youth centers off of Hickman and MLK in Des Moines, Johnston, Mitchellville, Perry, Stuart, and Winterset.
The purpose of Hope Ministries is to proclaim and demonstrate the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ, meeting the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of men, women and children who are homeless or in need of hope.
Our mission is to create a community of unconditional love, support and hope for the homeless, and to help get people off the streets in Polk County.
Wherever unsheltered people are living, in a and around Des Moines, volunteers visit with them weekly; building relationships, providing survival supplies and helping with specific needs.
Ruth Harbor is a Christ-centered home for young women who are alone and facing unplanned pregnancies. "Ruth" means compassion; "Harbor" means a place of refuge, safety, retreat, shelter.
Ruth Harbor is a 6-8 resident home located in Des Moines. It provides young women who are alone and facing unplanned pregnancies a truly viable option -- a safe harbor -- by providing housing, education, counseling, health care, parenting training or adoption assistance, spiritual support and more for the duration of their pregnancies.
