2014 Advent Shop

This Christmas, The Gateway Church is hosting its third annual Advent Shop to help individuals purchase and create gifts that will inspire and make an impact. Gifts will range from locally made, justice oriented, socially conscious, and handmade goods with proceeds going to global ministry partners such as ENLACEIJMBeza ThreadsDeep Green Project, and more!

Peace Rehabilitation Center
PRC is a charitable organization dedicated to fighting and preventing sexual exploitation and trafficking in Nepal. They strive to defeat oppression, empower women, strengthen communities and build the nation one girls at a time. They do this through: border monitoring and counseling centers, educational projects, community development, vocational training, income generation and skill development projects, raising awareness and trafficking prevention programs, residential recovery home addressing cross-border and in-border trafficking. PRC will be selling hats, scarves and mittens, wrap bangles, necklaces, lanyards and earrings.

J. Ella Designs
I make and sell baby/child accessories. I love creating beautiful and unique custom pieces! I sell scarf bibs, infinity scarves, headbands, barrettes, baby teething necklaces, leg warmers and barefoot sandals.

Marcia Sheriff
"God's Great Big Love" is a rhyming picture book about how much God loves and cares for us. This book teaches children important spiritual truths that are a part of their everyday lives. The beautiful photographs of God's marvelous creation will captivate children with thoughtful depictions of nature, people, and animals. After reading the story, children will gain a better understanding and appreciation of what God has done for them! This book is geared for children birth-age 8.

Children’s Hope Chest, The Story Company, Ornaments 4 Orphans
All three of these Organizations are passionate about helping orphans and widows survive, thrive and succeed in their poverty stricken villages. Giving them hope and a way to provide for them and their families. We will sell hand painted canvas paintings by Caeden (8) and Ashton (6) these fund their trips to visit the 600 orphans we sponsor through Children's Hope Chest. We will also be selling handmade christmas ornaments made by widows around the world and handmade jewelry and purses.

Kayan Cloth
We handloom our own scarves, skirts, bags, and shirts. This is a tradition we brought to the United States with us from Burma, and we continue weaving our beautiful vibrant cloth today in Des Moines.

Graystich sells bibdanas, bows, nursing covers, and more.

Rod + Rivet
Rod + Rivet is a website for the outdoorsman with a focus on Iowa and fly fishing. We will be selling thermoses, water bottles, fly reels, flies, and Iowa maps.

Jus Cuz
We are two moms who love to find great deals and use our creativity to keep our kids looking stylish. We started out making accessories for our own daughters and have grown from there! We sell hair bows, headbands, hats, bow ties, scarves, tutus and other accessories for little girls.

Beza Threads
We help bring redemption and freedom to the enslaved, providing rehabilitation and job training to give them a sustainable future. We support organization and former slaves by bringing their products to the marketplace. Each scarf is hand-crafted by teenagers in our program and takes seven hours to create. Buy a scarf for $30 and pay for one day on the path to freedom.

Freedom for Youth
Our role is to unite and empower Christian communities to reach young people from
kindergarten through 22 years old with programs that help them stay in school, learn life skills, prepare for the workplace, and develop healthy relationships. Our programs include tutoring, after-school activities, meals, job training, and residential services for post-high school students — all centered on the message of Jesus Christ’s saving grace.

The Move Project
The Move Project exists to provide clean water, shelter, and freedom to those without. Whether you are part of the haves or haves-nots we will stand arm in arm calling you to action because we believe the worst thing anyone can do is nothing at all. For the Advent Shop we will be selling handmade bags and wallets from Ghana, Africa. The proceeds from this event will go towards our clean water and education projects in Ghana.

Freeset
Freeset is a fair trade business offering employment to women trapped in Kolkata’s sex trade. We make quality jute bags and organic cotton t-shirts, but our business is freedom!

DeepGreen Threads
DeepGreen is a knitting business that provides work for women in our community in China who have suffered injustice. Our desire is to see these women empowered to grow professionally, personally and spiritually.

International Justice Mission
Choose a gift from the catalog in honor of your friend or loved one. Your gift provides rescue, safety and care to those in need. IJM rescues victims of slavery, sex trafficking and rape, brings criminals to justice, restores survivors, and strengthens justice systems.

Hopeful Africa
We are a non-profit organization that works to foster sustainable prosperity in Africa through educational development and equal partnership.

Sweets and Stilettos
Once a month, we bring a delicious variety of sweets to women working at our local
gentlemen’s club. The treats are homemade by a team of bakers and hand delivered by the same ladies each month. It is just our small way of showing love and support. We believe every woman should know how incredibly valuable and loved they are. That’s the message we hope to send to the beautiful ladies we serve each month! Plus, if you were working long hours in 9 inch heels, you’d need a cookie too!

El Salvador Team
The 2015 El Salvador team will be selling ornaments to support their upcoming trip.
