Coming up in Gateway Kids - April 12

Preschool/Toddler
Jesus gave His friends the very special job  to “go and tell” everyone everywhere about Him before He left. (Matthew 28:19- 20)

Elementary
Isaac settles in his father’s land and reopens some wells. (Genesis 26) For years no one had cared about the wells until they were reopened, then everyone started fighting over them. Instead of fighting, Isaac decided to give away the wells in order to make peace. Because of his act, the people changed their opinion about Isaac, and decided to trust him. Bottom Line: prove you care about others by walking away from a fight. Sometimes creating peace with someone means walking away even if we’re not wrong. Often it takes a stronger person to have the self-control to walk away.

Week 2 Elementary GodTime Devotional

Each day’s devotion includes:
1. a verse(s) to read
2. a devotion paragraph that teaches something about God and an explanation of today’s verse(s)
3. an activity that makes real-life application of the day’s devotion
4. a suggested prayer.

Encourage kids to choose four different days during the week to do these devotions. Even though kids in early elementary are beginning to read things on their own, you may want to do the GodTime card with your K-3rd grade child. Most 4th and 5th graders are capable of having a “quiet time” on their own, once they’ve been taught how to do it, but they still benefit from an adult following up on it.
