In a season of tense ministry, the Apostle Paul delivered these challenging and galvanizing words to a strained community:
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
- 1 Corinthians 3:11
Millenia later, Paul’s words, though not written to us, are certainly for us. 2020 proved to stress and strain unexpectedly. As we exit this year, we all need words that galvanize; words that have the power to save and set us free. We need the living word, the bread of life. We need Jesus.
So this is the invitation, let’s read the New Testament together. The goal is simple, to be built up in Jesus, our only and sure foundation.
We believe God is speaking and we want to listen.
Each day we determine to set aside our best time and cultivate space to hear and respond to God. We want our hearts and imaginations formed by Jesus so that we might love and live as Jesus loves and lives here in our city.
Though many of us are still distant, we believe coming together around God’s word, grappling with the same passages, asking questions, and being drawn into a daily encounter with Jesus is a sweet gift.
So, as the day dawns, rather than eating the bread of anxious toil, as the Psalmist says, let us feast in the bread that truly satisfies.
