Lord I've got the world upon my shoulders
But you've been saying "Child, put it down"
I prayed and prayed that you would take my burden
But you keep saying "Child, put it down"Maybe I'm addicted to the worry
Maybe I'm a slave to holding on
Help me put it down
Help me put it downI've heard it said: the Gospel is rest
Oh, how I need it
Say it again
'til I believe it
Oh, how I need it
Oh, how I need itLord you took the world upon your shoulders
Now all I have to do is put it down
I'm living like some weary beast of burden
And you keep saying, "Child, put it down"Well, maybe I've been trying to be the hero
Fighting wars that you've already won
Help me put it down
Help me put it downOh how I need
That peace that passes understanding
How I need it
Oh, how I need it
That peace that passes understanding
How I need it -
Our Call to Worship based on Hebrews 12:
"O Come, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfector of our faith,
who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross.
Let us worship Him now."
-
We have suffered all kinds of grief
Tasted the bitter cup of defeat
Out of the bitter comes something sweet
Our faith more precious than goldWe have been tested by so many fires
Burned in the heat of what our hope requires
Find us here singing in a foolish choir
Our faith more precious than gold
Our faith more precious than goldThough we don’t see you, we love you
When we don’t feel you, we still sing
We’ve got a reason to trust you
Jesus in everythingThere is a secret we can only know
Walking through places we don’t want to go
Cause in the dark we learn the song of hope
Our faith more precious than gold
Our faith more precious than goldAnd though we don’t see you, we love you
When we don’t feel you, we still sing
We’ve got a reason to trust you
Jesus in everything
Jesus in everythingTears on the altar from all we’ve lost
Following you no matter what it cost
May be a whisper, may be a roar
This is the sound of those who love you Lord
This is the sound of those who love you LordTears on the altar from all we’ve lost
Following you no matter what it cost
May be a whisper, may be a roar
This is the sound of those who love you Lord
This is the sound of those who love you LordThough we don’t see you, we love you
When we don’t feel you, we still sing
We’ve got a reason to trust you
Jesus in everythingThough we don’t see you, we love you
When we don’t feel you, we still sing
We’ve got a reason to trust you
Jesus in everything

How deep the Father's love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to gloryBehold the Man upon a cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finishedI will not boast in anything
No gifts no power no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom -
Please join me in reading our Confession:
“Eternal God,
in whom we live and move and have our being, whose face is hidden from us by our sins,
and whose mercy we forget in the blindness of our hearts:
cleanse us from all our offenses,
and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires,
that with reverent and humble hearts we may draw near to you,
confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son.”
-
And now hear this Assurance from 1 John 1:9
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
-
At this time, we would like to take a few moments to pass the Peace of Christ. Please greet one another.

Holy Father, there is nothing I have that You have not given me.
All I have and am belong to You, bought with the blood of Jesus.
To spend everything on myself, and to give without sacrifice,
is the way of the world that You cannot abide.
But generosity is the way of those who call Christ their Lord;
who love Him with free hearts and serve Him with renewed minds.
Who withstand the delusion of riches that chokes the word;
Whose hearts are in your kingdom and not in the systems of the world.
I am determined to increase in generosity until it can be said that there is no needy person among us.
I am determined to be trustworthy with such a little thing as money that You may trust me with true riches.
Above all, I am determined to be generous because You, Father, are generous.
It is the delight of Your daughters and sons to share Your traits, and to show what You are like to all the world.
-
Please stand with me for the reading of God's Word. Today's reading comes from Matthew 27:45-46
“From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli lema sabachthani?”
...which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
This is the word of the Lord
(All: Thanks be to God)
You may be seated -
-
Communion is available in the baskets at the end of each row. Contains juice and wafer (gluten-free option available).

He who was before there was life
Walked across the pages of time
He who made every living thing
Behold HimHe who heard humanity's cry
Left his throne to wake as a child
He became like the least of us
Behold HimJesus, Son of God, Messiah
The Lamb, the Roaring Lion
Oh be still and behold HimHe who dined with sinners and saints
Healed the blind the lost and the lame
Even now He is in our midst
Behold HimHe who chose a criminal's end
Paid with blood to settle our debt
Buried death as He rose to life
Behold HimJesus, Son of God, Messiah
The Lamb, the Roaring Lion
Oh be still and behold HimJesus, Alpha and Omega
Our God the Risen Savior
Oh be still and behold HimHoly, holy, holy
Is the Lord God AlmightyWorthy, worthy, worthy
To receive all praiseJesus, Son of God, Messiah
The Lamb, the Roaring Lion
Oh be still and behold HimJesus, Alpha and Omega
Our God the Risen Savior
Oh be still and behold HimBehold Him

What love could remember, no wrongs we have done
Omniscient all-knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea, without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is morePraise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is moreWhat patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father so tender is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is morePraise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is moreWhat riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment, His life was the cost
We stood 'neath a debt we could never affordOur sins they are many, His mercy is more
Praise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every mornOur sins they are many, His mercy is more
Praise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every mornOur sins they are many, His mercy is more
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more -
And now, hear this Benediction based on Romans 10:5-15
"How beautiful are the feet of those
who bring good news—
the good news of God’s victory,
of peace and forgiveness available to all who believe!
Go from here to share that good news with all you meet.
And may the blessing of The Father,
the love of Jesus Christ,
and the presence of the Holy Spirit
be among you and within you.
Amen."
