Goodness
Group Discussion Guide
Each Sunday we come together we offer an open invitation into the way of Jesus. An invitation to enter into sacred rhythms - to draw near to God through singing, giving, learning, and praying.
As a community who desires renewal in Des Moines as it is in Heaven, we recognize that we cannot offer what we ourselves do not have. We cannot lead where we ourselves have not been led; in turn, these questions aim at reflection. Reflecting on God’s word and making space for his leadership.
After watching or listening consider the following discussion questions as a large group or in groups of three to four:
What works of beauty - whether in art, science, technology, or other fields - have you experienced that have personally drawn you to something otherworldly or Divine? (These can be examples of high art, but can also be books or movies, research papers, technological discoveries, etc.)
How does culture define "goodness"? Are there ways that Christians have misunderstood or made biblical goodness into something that it is not?
Biblical goodness is about renewal, beauty, and godly defiance.
Which of these aspects of God's goodness have you seen at work during this pandemic?
Are there specific ways you feel prompted to join God in renewal, to bring beauty, or be godly defiant in our time?
What are some things you can do to answer that calling this week?
