If You Can
Group Discussion Guide
Each Sunday we come together we offer an open invitation into the way of Jesus. An invitation to enter into sacred rhythms - to draw near to God through singing, giving, learning, and praying.
As a community who desires renewal in Des Moines as it is in Heaven, we recognize that we cannot offer what we ourselves do not have. We cannot lead where we ourselves have not been led; in turn, these questions aim at reflection. Reflecting on God’s word and making space for his leadership.
After watching or listening consider the following discussion questions as a large group or in groups of three to four:
What stood out to you about this week's teaching?
How do you handle moments of desperation?
Where do you notice yourself turning in moments of desperation (self, others)?
What about when others near you are desperate, how do you handle those moments?
What might Jesus say to our desire for comfort in general; and specifically, in this season?
“Oftentimes in life we think I can’t get through this. There’s no way God, you’ve got to take it away, it’s the only way I’m going to get through this obstacle, this pain, this situation in life. And although there are times in life when God does remove things; there are also many times in life when God doesn’t remove the pain, he doesn't take away the mountain. No, he changes our feet so we can scale the mountain in the midst of pain, in the midst of a devastating season God will train us.” - Suzy Silk
How might God be changing your feet right now? Where are you denying his invitation?
Where do you need God to change desperation into dependence? Consider praying for the answer you give, “I believe, help my unbelief.”
