As It Is
Group Discussion Guide
Each Sunday we come together we offer an open invitation into the way of Jesus. An invitation to enter into sacred rhythms - to draw near to God through singing, giving, learning, and praying.
As a community who desires renewal in Des Moines as it is in Heaven, we recognize that we cannot offer what we ourselves do not have. We cannot lead where we ourselves have not been led; in turn, these questions aim at reflection. Reflecting on God’s word and making space for his leadership.
After watching or listening consider the following discussion questions as a large group or in groups of three to four:
What stood out to you about this week’s teaching?
What stood out to you in this week’s teaching?
Read Luke 9:46-48. What are your thoughts about Jesus’ call to welcome children?
Dallas Willard said every church should ask two questions 1. What is our plan for making disciples? 2. Is it working?
How do you think we (as a body) are doing?
What is God calling you to do to disciple others in our community?
Research shows that when kids feel as if they’re a part of a whole community of believers, their faith is more likely to stick.
Did you find this to be true for yourself? Why or why not?
What are some ways in which you can be part of helping the kids of our body feel they’re part of our community?
How can we (as a body) include the kids of our church in the work we are doing? How can we bring them along as we join God in the renewal of all things here in Des Moines?
If we lived out our values of presence, formation and renewal in our community (our church family and our city) what impact do you think that would have?
