Gentleness
Group Discussion Guide
Each Sunday we come together we offer an open invitation into the way of Jesus. An invitation to enter into sacred rhythms - to draw near to God through singing, giving, learning, and praying.
As a community who desires renewal in Des Moines as it is in Heaven, we recognize that we cannot offer what we ourselves do not have. We cannot lead where we ourselves have not been led; in turn, these questions aim at reflection. Reflecting on God’s word and making space for his leadership.
After watching or listening consider the following discussion questions as a large group or in groups of three to four:
When was the last time you witnessed or experienced an act of gentleness?
What is the “word” that comes to mind when you think of Jesus?
Do you agree with the following statement: “Jesus is the most approachable person in human history.”
In Matthew 11 Jesus says that we can learn from him and more that we who are weary and burdened can find rest in him because he is, “gentle and lowly in heart.” Where have you been weary and burdened this week?
Is it comforting or discouraging that Jesus does not describe himself as “powerful and mighty?” Why is it hard to follow a meek Jesus?
How can we be a community of Gentleness in Des Moines? What does it look like for you to have open arms?
